CBSE New Exam Pattern of Class X XII

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced to change the exam pattern of class 10 and 12 examinations from the year 2020. The decision was made in an attempt to improve the analytical abilities of the students. Students are found trapped in the rote learning system. Therefore the CBSE has decided to revamp the current trend which includes conducting vocational subjects exams and announcing the results earlier.

According to a report by The Times of India, a senior minister of Human Resource Development Ministry (HRD) was quoted as saying, “The questions will be more in the nature of problem-solving. There will be more short questions (between 1 to 5 marks). The stress would be on probing the critical thinking abilities of students and test actual learning outcomes rather than allow students to score high marks by virtue of rote.”

To improve the education quality in an institution, the CBSE has reportedly framed new ‘CBSE bylaws’ and submitted them to the HRD ministry. The HRD ministry takes care of the quality of education during affiliation or renewal of schools. The renewed CBSE exam pattern is likely to simplify the rules of affiliation and renewal for schools.

The HRD ministry official reportedly added, “The proposals will take another three-four months to crystallise. However, the board is already working toward the changes in the pattern of questions from 2020.”
